South Boston - Massachusetts - Who do you shoot for? Your client? Yourself? I shoot for myself - and more often then not, if I'm pleased with my images, others will like them too. If not, well, it's art, and I shoot to please me.I had a boss who once told me that your own standards have to be the absolute highest. His point was that if he was impressed, you'd really done a good job. I try to make it a point to be difficult to impress. Think about it - if you're difficult to impress, it will enhance your credibility with the people you work with. More to the point - everyone has that friend who will tell you everything you do is, "Oh my god, that's the greatest (insert average accomplishment) ever!" But if you think about it, the most valuable people you meet are those who will tell you that you can do better when you've already done well.Chase Jarvis has said that if you shoot the images everyone else wants you to make, you will never get to make the images you want to make. More simply, if you shoot dogs and really want to shoot athletes, but only show people photos of dogs, Nike's never going to hire you to shoot MJ.This image just happened to be taken on one of those great days where I made multiple images that I was happy with. (And I've thrown out hundreds of photos from hours of shooting before). This was taken about a half hour before this photo. I was waiting for Rob to meet me to shoot, trying to will him to hurry up before the fog burned off. When the biker rode out of the mist, I had image.
